It's just April, but the summer heat and temperature are through the roof already. Amravati, which comes under the Vidharbha region in Maharashtra is known for its summer heat. The summers in Amravati are hot and dry, with temperatures ranging from 30 to 45 degrees Celsius.
During the summer months, many birds struggle to find adequate food sources. This is because the hot weather can dry out natural food sources such as insects, fruits, and seeds, and make it more difficult for birds to find the food they need to survive.

In earlier times, birds were seen early in the mornings sitting on the branches of trees, making the mornings blissful but recently a decrease in the number of birds has been observed. While there are a number of reasons for this, the summer heat is one of them.
To address the need for a bird feeding site in the summer and to bring these birds back, Mahesh Deshmukh through his new initiative started a bird feeding site, where the birds can get food and water in the scorching heat of summer. Amravati is a dry and arid place, this site acts as an oasis for the birds to come and nest.

Having a liking towards birds since childhood, Mahesh Deshmukh said, “He had already started this initiative of bird feeding sites and plantation of trees at various sites of Rajpath Infracon. He started by keeping different pulses and water in fiber dishes for the birds, which will help them in this heat.” He further said, there was no publicity done for this work.

This initiative is more than an initiative, it is a call to action, an implementation of the ideas that goes beyond the green initiative. Natural food sources may be more scarce during hot and dry weather conditions. As a result, providing a feeding site for birds can be beneficial in helping to support their survival and reproduction.
